Several top names are positive about their appearance at Melbourne and 2020 Paris Bercy champion Daniil Medvedev is one of them.

After winning his first title in 2020, Medvedev is hopeful about his chances at the upcoming ATP Finals. Furthermore, when asked about his participation at the Australian Open 2021, Medvedev said this:

He said this in relation to the upcoming ATP Finals event and the ATP Cup, which will be hosted before the Australian Open in 2021. As we are nearing the end of the 2020 calendar, no one really knows what the schedule is with regards to the upcoming season.

Tennis Australia’s CEO Craig Tiley painted a gloomy picture for the tournament in 2021, and the subsequent years as well. “I’m of the view that these current adjustments will last longer than we think,” he said

“We are already talking about different scenarios for 2022, because we don’t think we will be repeating 2020 until at least 2023 or 2024,” Tiley further added.

Daniil Medvedev on what it takes to win a tournament

Daniil Medvedev is yet to win a Grand Slam in his promising career, but he’s already won multiple ATP titles. The 2020 Rolex Paris Masters crown became the latest addition in his trophy cabinet, and the Russian knows what it takes to close out a tournament.

“Every tournament that you play to win it, you need to win 5 matches against 5 real guys. All of them want to win this tournament,” said Medvedev

“You need to be stronger than them. You need to break each of these guys mentally every match, that’s really tough. Especially in semi-finals or finals where you play top players and they try to break u and they are better at it. It’s only you against your opponent,” he further added.
