Lewis Hamilton part of F1 investors in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s new

Lewis Hamilton looks set to expand his business empire after he invested in a new golf venture put together by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Hamilton is no stranger to ventures in other sports having been part of a bid to buy Chelsea Football Club earlier this season.

Although that bid proved unsuccessful, Hamilton achieved his goal of becoming a sports team owner when he purchased a stake in the NFL team the Denver Broncos in August.

But now it seems he is taking a whack at golf after it was announced he and four other F1 drivers were investing in a new company founded by Woods and McIlroy.

The company, TMRW Sports, has a stated goal of “harnessing technology to build progressive approaches in sports, media, and entertainment to create new pathways for the next generation to enjoy sports” and was established in August.

The company aims to use new technology and media to entice a younger audience and is set to host its first project, a golf league called TGL, in 2024.

The company, of which Woods and McIlroy are co-founders alongside former NBC Sports executive Mike McCarley, has now announced a new wave of investors including some of the biggest names in not only F1 but sport in general.

Hamilton joins Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris and Alex Albon, all of whom are known to have a passionate interest in golf as well as former Red Bull driver Mark Webber in investing.

Alongside the F1 contigent, Steph Curry, Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Alex Morgan are some of the sporting stars to get involved. Justin Timberlake has also been announced as an investor.

Hamilton also announced last month that he had established his own production company ‘Dawn Apollo’ and said he plans to “fully focus” on it after his F1 career is over.

Speaking after the announcement of their new waves of investors, CEO McCarley said that the combined reached of the new investors will expand the opportunities and fanbases of TMRW projects.

“Over the past year, we’ve assembled a team of investors who will help deliver on the TMRW Sports’ mission to positively impact how sports are experienced in the future,” he said.

“And we’ve been intentional about diversity of expertise, thought and backgrounds as we mobilised this strategic group.

“From the very beginning, our plan has been to partner with the best-in-class in every way imaginable.

“Tiger, Rory, and I value the support of this unrivalled team of investors, advisors, and ambassadors who believe in our vision to harness technology to create progressive approaches to sports.

“Their combined broad reach [500million followers across Twitter and Instagram] and cultural relevance will expand potential opportunities and fanbases for TMRW projects.”
