Five local boxers, including two high schoolers, capture USA Metro Boxing titles

Staten Island was well-represented at the USA Metro Boxing championships over the weekend, where five locals copped titles, and another finished as runner-up. All six of the fighters operated out of the Cops & Kids gyms, located at the Berry Houses and in Park Hill.

Two high schoolers claimed crowns, including New Dorp’s Anthony Laieta, who captured the 125-pound title in the Elite Male division. Laieta, who fights out of the Berry Houses gym, outlasted Edgar Dominguez in the final.
