USC vs. Notre Dame score: Live game updates, college football scores, NCAA top

No. 6 USC is one quarter away from finishing its first regular season under coach Lincoln Riley with an 11-1 record as the Trojans take a 24-14 edge on No. 15 Notre Dame into the fourth quarter. With quarterback Caleb Williams showing why he’s become a Heisman Trophy favorite and the Trojans’ defense coming up with timely plays, USC has looked like a College Football Playoff-caliber squad during much of the rivalry showdown.

But Notre Dame is proving to be a resilient foe, both tonight and on the season as a whole. After a rough start to his first season, Fighting Irish coach Marcus Freeman has his squad playing solid football. If not for an untimely fumble from quarterback Drew Pyne in the third quarter and a failed fourth-down conversion attempt in the first half, this game would look much different. As it stands, the Trojans are closing in on a victory that would keep their CFP hopes alive entering next week’s Pac-12 Championship Game.
