Rune aims big things in 2023

Rune, 19, enjoyed an outstanding end to the 2022 season.

In what was his final tournament of the year, Rune captured his first Masters title after upsetting Novak Djokovic in the Paris Masters final. Following his Paris victory, Rune also broke into the top-10 for the first time in his career.

Going into the 2023 season, Rune has made it clear his next goal is to win a Grand Slam title. “I have not made my plans for 2023 yet. I will sit with my coach after my holidays and we will go through it. But I know what I want.

I want to win slams. I won an ATP 250, I reached an ATP 500 final and I won a Masters 1000. It’s time for a slam win,” Rune told Relevant Tennis. Rune’s best Grand Slam run came at this year’s French Open, where he made the quarterfinal before losing to Casper Ruud.

En route to winning Paris, Rune defeated five top-10 players. Rune has certainly proved that he can beat the top players and it remains to be seen if he can win a Grand Slam in 2023.
