Eighteen years later, Marc Marquez and Emilio Alzamora followed opposite paths, with the rider choosing Jaime Martinez as his manager. The catalan now addresses change at this stage of his career.

‘When there are problems and bad results we have to look for a change. And that’s where Jaime Martinez comes into play. I will always be grateful to Emilio. But at a certain point, after so many years, the relationship becomes like a marriage, of course’, highlighted Marquez, later explaining what happened in statements to his documentary series, ‘All In’:

– [The decision] didn’t happen overnight. In the last two or three years we felt that something was missing. And when that happens, when something is missing and love is no longer the same, arguments begin over nonsense. After that, suspicions begin to arise, in some distrusts and this can lead to some misunderstandings. All these factors gained weight until I had to ask myself the question: What am I going to do with my sports career? I know I want to win again and for that the waters need to be calm. No one can take away from us what we have achieved. And we’ve come a long way in these years we’ve spent together. It’s been 18 years, it’s not little.
