Canelo Alvarez won’t be able to duck David Benavidez much longer

David Benavidez, the Mexican-American boxer, is ready to face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez next once he beats Caleb Plant on March 25. The winner of that fight will be the mandatory WBC challenger.

During an interview with ESPN on Monday, Benavidez stated that he deserves the opportunity to fight Canelo and prove he is the best super middleweight boxer in the world.

“I’m the mandatory [contender] for Canelo and I think he has to give me that chance to fight,” Benavidez said. “I think I’m the best super middleweight fighter in the world.

“He can choose all his fights right now, I have a lot of respect for him, I think he’s a legend, but I think it’s time for him to give me a chance to fight. I want to prove to people that I am the best in the world.”

Canelo will certainly be watching when Benavidez faces Plant at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the interim WBC super middleweight belt.

Benavidez vs. Plant for a ticket to face Canelo

Benavidez, who boasts an undefeated 26-0 record, will have a chance to face Canelo in the near future if he gets past Plant.

The Mexican-American fighters has established himself as one of the best boxers in the super middleweight division today and Canelo himself expects him to win.

Benavidez vs. Canelo has generated a lot of buzz in the boxing world for many years now.

Fans are hoping that such a showdown will take place sooner rather than later.
