Warriors beat Sacramento Kings in game 3 of playoff round


After two straight wins in the first round of NBA playoffs, the Sacramento Kings fell to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. De’Aaron Fox led the Kings proudly, scoring 38 points to tie for the second-highest playoff debut in NBA history to lead the Kings to a 126-123 victory.The second game was a little messier.While the Kings won this one as well, the air was uneasy for both teams after a fourth-quarter incident where the Warriors’ Draymond Green stomped on the Kings’ Domantas Sabonis’ chest.This led to Green’s suspension from Thursday’s game without pay. A release from the NBA said Green’s chest-stomping was in response to Sabonis grabbing and holding Green’s right ankle after falling to the floor. Green received a Flagrant Foul 2 and was ejected, and Sabonis got a technical foul. Kings fans react to Game 3 lossDespite the loss, thousands of Kings fans filled up the Golden 1 Center for a sold-out watch party Thursday night. Lifelong Kings supporters said even if they could not travel to the Chase Center in San Francisco to watch the game, they were thrilled to have a spot in Sacramento to gather together. Officials with the Sacramento Kings told KCRA 3 around 10,000 people came to the Golden 1 Center for the watch party.“I think this was needed, to just show all the support from Sac, local people,” Kings fan Karina Webb said.Some fans, including Alex Henthorn, waited around two hours outside the Golden 1 Center so they could grab the best spot inside the free event to watch the game on the jumbotron. Henthorn was the first person in line.“I’m a lifelong Kings fan. I remember going to the playoff series in 2002 against the Mavericks — 2003. Those were fun times with my parents and now as an adult, I can enjoy the playoff games again,” Henthorn said.Fans said they are now focusing on Game 4 on Sunday. Another watch party event will take place at the Golden 1 Center. Officials said tickets will be available starting on Friday.“Win or lose, I’m just happy to be here,” said Mark Joachim, of Vacaville, who went to San Francisco to see the game. “We were never supposed to be the third seed. To me, it’s just cool to be able to get the chance to come out to watch my team play in a playoff game.”Kaleena Noland of Roseville also made the commute to see the game.
