Snoop Dogg trolls Jordan Poole ahead of Warriors-Lakers NBA playoff series

Snoop Dogg, a lifelong Los Angeles Lakers fan, set his scouting report in time for Tuesday night’s Game 1 of his favorite team’s Western Conference semifinal playoff series against the Warriors.

“Steph [Curry] showed out last series, so we’re going to be probably doubling Steph,” Snoop Dogg said to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Tuesday’s “First Take” episode. “Somebody else is going to be open.

“Jordan Poole, keep shooting. I like the way you’ve been missing, brother.”

Poole received his fair share of criticism during the regular season. It escalated recently in the early goings of what the Warriors hope is a long postseason run. 

Across the seven-game first-round series against the Sacramento Kings, Poole averaged 12.0 points per game while shooting a mere 33.8 percent from the field and 25.7 percent from 3-point range. 

Poole signed a four-year contract extension worth 3 million in October in large part due to his contributions to the Warriors’ 2022 championship. Poole averaged 17.0 points per game on 50.8 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc in 22 postseason games last summer.

Aside from a subtle jab at Poole, Snoop Dogg did say he has concerns with one other Warriors player besides Curry.

“Definitely big play Klay because he’s a Laker,” the rapper said. “What I mean by that is he’s a born Laker. He’s a Laker fan. His daddy, Mychal Thompson, did his thing with us. And I’m pretty sure Klay is a diehard Laker fan in his heart, he just didn’t get to choose who he could play for.

“When you got that kind of inspiration, you tend to want to play a little harder.”
