De Gea is out of contract next month, with United having decided against triggering an option to extend his £375,000-a-week deal by a year. United want De Gea to take a pay cut of around £175,000-a-week, on a more incentivised deal, with the two parties yet to reach an agreement.

But Ten Hag remains confident a deal will be struck and said: “I think we want him to stay and he wants to stay, so I think we will find each other.”
