Bond set at $250,000 for Centralia man charged with sex offenses
An 18-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with a Class X offense of predatory criminal sexual assault to a victim 17 or under and criminal sexual assault with the use of force.
Judge Stanley Brandmeyer set bond for Kaleb Nagy of North Pine Street at $250,000 during his first appearance in court Friday morning. If released on bond, he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or residence. A public defender was appointed to represent him with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 18th at 11 am.
The Centralia Police Department said its investigation began after they were called to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for a possible sexual assault report. The alleged victim, who was 17, reported the sexual assault occurred in Foundation Park. Nagy and the victim were co-workers at a local business.
Based on the information provided by the victim and the hospital staff, Nagy was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident.
