Boris Becker heaps praise on ‘class act’ Roger Federer

Boris Becker called Roger Federer “always a class act” after reading what the Swiss tennis legend had to say about today’s tennis. Federer, one of the greatest players in tennis history, was honored in Halle this week. In Halle, Federer confirmed he still follows tennis and described the game as “always evolving.” Also, Federer praised the current group of players, saying they’re “doing an absolutely fantastic job.” “Roger always a class act!” Becker captioned his Instagram Story.
What did Federer say to earn Becker’s praise?
When Federer retired, he insisted the game was in good hands with the current group of talent. In Halle, Federer reiterated his previous message, praising the younger generation for stepping up challenging his two biggest rivals – Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic “I’m very surprised at how often and how frequently I check scores.
Three times a day, maybe. Then, of course, all of a sudden there are days where I check out for like a week, and then I’m with the kids, and I’m traveling, and I’m gone. I think the level of play, I feel like it’s going up more and more again and again, you know.
So it’s nice to see that. And also the new generation, you know challenging still the likes of Novak [Djokovic] and also Rafa [Nadal], I hope he comes back. So it’s good times in tennis, and I always said that tennis is so great and always keeps on evolving,” Federer said.
Meanwhile, Federer’s return to Halle was his first visit to a tennis tournament since retiring. In Halle, Federer won a record 10 titles and that was the place where he loved to play leading up to Wimbledon. Federer is also expected to be at this year’s Wimbledon as the tournament organizers are planning to honor their record eight-time champion. In September, Federer will also be a guest at the Laver Cup.
