Malkia Strikers attacker Sharon Chepchumba has said she opted to remain in Greece because she feels settled despite having multiple offers from across Europe.

Chepchumba, who was feted the best African player in the Africa Club Volleyball Championships in Tunisia 2022, will play for Paok Volleyball Club in the coming season after savoring ties with Aris Thessaloniki Volleyball Club.

“When I moved to Greece, it was tough at first but I slowly adapted to everything. Greece is my second home. The weather is friendly so I felt there was no need to move out of Greece,” Chepchumba, who helped KCB win the Club Championships said.

“Paok is better than Aris. They were in the playoffs and I want to help them win the league title,” she added.

Chepchumba, who is part of the Malkia squad for the Challenger Cup as well as the Africa Nations Volleyball Championships, was named the Most Valuable Player in the Greece League.

“I had a lot of offers but remaining in Greece was an option. I had offers from Poland but I want to continue with my career in Greece.”

In the meantime, the towering attacker said she needs to improve on her jump service to become an all-rounded player.
