Jerez to remain in MotoGP calendar until 2025

The rotation of races on the Iberian Peninsula will not take MotoGP away from Jerez for the next two years. The usual home of the Spanish GP secured the 2024 and 2025 races this Friday.

The councillor for Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, affirmed a protocol with the Jerez de la Frontera City Council chaired by Maria Jose Garcia-Pelayo and Dorna Sports led by Carmelo Ezpeleta.

On the occasion, Bernal said: ‘Jerez couldn’t miss a round at a circuit that has given so much joy to spanish riders and to all the fans who love this sport. It’s hard to think of a motorbike World Championship without the Jerez circuit among its races. Since 1987 it has been the venue for major races and that link must not be broken. The andalusian government wants Jerez to be the fixed venue for the Spanish Grand Prix every year’.

The mayor of the andalusian municipality said: ‘The city council is preparing a major event for the circuit’s 40th anniversary in 2025. The protocol is an act that consolidates Jerez as the venue for the MotoGP Spanish GP’.

On the part of Dorna, Ezpeleta made a point of praising ‘the efforts of the Jerez City Council and the Junta de Andalucía to improve the facilities and the layout of the circuit’.
