Roger Federer could set a new record: one of his outfit worn in January 2018 will be sold at auction for a massive prize! This is the outfit worn by the Swiss Maestro at the Australian Open 2018: an iconic outfit, when Roger was still wearing the Nike brand and had not yet signed his million-dollar contract with Uniqlo.

Federer’s outfit will be auctioned at the Prestige Memorabilia auction house. The starting price is 35 thousand dollars. Federer beat Nadal, since his Nike kit costs much more than the shirt with which the Spaniard won at the Roland Garros in 2019, sold for just over 20 thousand dollars.

It will be a new record for a tennis memorabilia at the auction.

The most expensive memorabilia of all time belonged to NBA star Michael Jordan: the shirt he wore in the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, sold at auction by Sotheby’s for 10 million dollars.

Roger Federer at the Laver Cup 2023

Roger Federer flew to Vancouver for the 2023 Laver Cup The Swiss legend, in an interview with Eurosport, commented on the current level of tennis, praising the young talents that have emerged in recent years and not hiding his disappointment at not having been able to face them.

Federer initially complimented Coco Gauff on winning the US Open, her first slam title, won at 19 years old.

He said: “Contemporary tennis is in good shape if I look at what Coco Gauff did at the US Open. I think she did something special, unique.

She’s been on the circuit for five years and is an incredible girl.”

Federer the talked about young men players: “Coming to the men, we experienced some great moments: Novak is rewriting history, Carlos Alcaraz’s exploits at Wimbledon, Daniil Medvedev who played fantastically in New York.

Many young men are emerging , a generation against which I couldn’t play.

I am referring to Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to challenge them on the court but I think the future is bright.

The game is evolving, we evolve. But the nice thing is that I really enjoy watching the matches and commenting on the results.”
