Isaiah Miranda No Longer with Oklahoma State Basketball

Redshirt freshman center Isaiah Miranda is no longer with the Oklahoma State basketball program, Mike Boynton announced on the OSU pregame radio show on Tuesday.

Listed at 7-foot-1, 220 pounds, Miranda appeared in just three games for the Cowboys, scoring eight total points to go with seven rebounds and a steal. Miranda was a highly sought after recruit, finishing as the No. 45 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He enrolled at NC State in December of 2022 but never played in a game with the Wolfpack before entering the transfer portal.

Boynton said Miranda had dealt with some personal matters before electing to leave the team for good. Boynton added that Miranda is seeking professional opportunities.

“Really good kid,” Boynton said. “We’re pulling for him, but he won’t be with us moving forward.”

Miranda suffered a hip injury in OSU’s exhibition win against Oklahoma Baptist on Nov. 1. That kept him out until the Cowboys’ game against New Orleans on Nov. 20, but Miranda rolled an ankle in warmups. That kept him out until the Cowboys’ Dec. 10 game against Tulsa, where Miranda finally made his college debut. He played four minutes, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds. He also picked up a technical foul in that game.

He then appeared in OSU’s next two games, playing 10 minutes against Oral Roberts and two minutes against Wofford.

Miranda’s potential is nearly limitless. He is a long 7-1 with a 39-inch vertical and has good lateral quickness and the ability to shoot the 3.

The departure moves the Cowboys down to just 11 scholarship players of a possible 13. OSU started the year down a scholarship as the program moves past sanctions brought on from the FBI’s probe into college basketball.

The Cowboys were already inexperienced in the frontcourt heading into the season, but this also makes the group thin. Mike Marsh, a college basketball journeyman who transferred in from Jacksonville, was the only player taller than 6-foot-6 to have played in a college basketball game on the Pokes’ roster. Freshman Brandon Garrison has been starting at center with Marsh and freshman Justin McBride relieving him.
