BOA representatives return to Japan to celebrate Tokyo 2020 success


Representatives from the British Olympic Association (BOA) recently returned to Japan to celebrate the success of Tokyo 2020 with key partners and contributors.

Andy Anson, BOA Chief Executive Officer, Mark England, Team GB’s Chef de Mission for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Shahab Uddin, BOA Chief Operating Officer, double Olympic hockey medallist Susannah Townsend and representatives from the British Paralympic Association, firstly met with senior officials from the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), to express their gratitude for their ongoing support over many years leading up to Games.

An official reception also took place at the British Embassy in Tokyo, where guests from Kawasaki, Yokohoma, Odaiba, Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the British School were all in attendance. Honorary MBEs were awarded to a selection of key individuals at a special Investiture ceremony, in recognition of some of the vital contributions that led to the success and achievement of British athletes.

Team GB won 64 medals in total at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, finishing fourth in the medal table.
