Spurs’ stars of the future take to the turf at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League Cup.

Wayne Burnett’s high-flying U21s will make themselves at home at the huge arena that normally plays host to Ange Postecoglou‘s stars like Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Cristian Romero in the Premier League. Now Spurs‘ younger players will get a chance to impress in front of the crowd in N17.

The Premier League Cup match kicks off at 1pm and represents a chance for many of the youngsters to enjoy the experience of what it would be like if they were able to break into Postecoglou’s squad. Burnett’s U21s have been flying this season and sit on top of the Premier League 2, winning all but their most recent game against West Ham, which they drew. They will not be able to call on the U18 players for this game as they have their own big FA Youth Cup quarter final clash at Manchester City on Saturday.

However, there will be players like Jamie Donley, who has played four times for Postecoglou this season, and potentially Dane Scarlett, who is part of the first team squad and spent the first half of this season on loan at Ipswich.

Our Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Scroll down for his live updates from the match.

What a goal

It’s 6-0 now. It’s a fourth assist for Jamie Donley as he picks out Santiago and the Spaniard sends first the goalkeeper and then a defender flying past him on the floor by turning inside them. Well worth watching that goal if you can.

So close

Almost a sixth goal for Spurs as Donley plays in Santiago but his spin and shot rolls just wide of the right-hand post.

Spurs sub

It’s the end of Dane Scarlett’s day as he comes off to applause with Rio Kyerematen replacing him.

What a save!

Brilliant reflex save from Spurs goalkeeper Aaron Maguire to deny Theo Williams from close range.

It’s 5-0
