Bristol, TN — Spring race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway has arrived … as the world’s top stock car drivers will roll into town … to a bit of a throwback feel around the Thunder Valley grounds.

The most obvious change will be the dirt, as the Bristol Motor Speedway returns to the concrete surface for the spring event . The other change will be the walls around the mile and half oval that will return to their red and white colors in 1992 for this throwback race only. Some of the drivers feel the change in wall color could affect the racing on the track.

“The black walls were difficult to see from the driver’s standpoint, especially at night. I always liked colored walls, so I think red and white is a good change. And certainly anything that kind of brings us back to that is good and that’s super helpful for the visuals for the drivers as well. The more we see the walls, of course, we’re going to get closer.”

Hamlin was the last winner at Bristol when he took the checkered flag for the Bass Pro Shops night race last season.
