Former Jackson State star Angel Jackson is getting her feet wet as she prepares for her rookie season in the WNBA with the Las Vegas Aces.

The rookie participated in her first media day on Saturday as she looks to secure a spot on the two-time defending WNBA champions.

Jackson was asked what advice she had received from star Aja Wilson and head coach Becky Hammon.

“Aja, when I first got here, she kind of gave me the rundown,” Jackson said. “Just telling me to calm down, be in the moment and let your game speak for itself. Becky has done an amazing job just getting all the rookies on one page. Just letting us compete, showcase our talents and just being there for us.”

The Aces will be looking to three-peat as WNBA Champions, so the stakes are very high.

“It means everything,” Jackson said of playing with the Las Vegas Aces. “Just knowing that there there is still room to improve. Just know that they are the two-time/back-to-back champions so you have to work a little harder every single day just coming in with that target on your back and just coming in and being the best that you can be.”

Not that playing for a winner is new to Angel Jackson. The third round draft pick helped lead Jackson State to back-to-back SWAC regular season titles and the 2024 SWAC Tournament title.

“I think coming from a program like Jackson State, I feel like the SWAC is very much underrated,” Jackson said. “We’re very physical and we come out every single day with a relentless attitude. Jackson State really just prepared me to have a great mindset on and off the court and being prepared for anything that’s thrown at you. “
