‘Cops Are On Their Way’

Major drama continues to play out at golf courses across the United States. 

Boomers are fighting Gen Zs, Gen Zs are blowing off air horns as Boomers are trying to rip a driver down the middle and now comes a video from Instagram meme account Zire Golf showing a pair of golf course pond golf ball divers being shredded by a ranger who’s had enough. 

“Dumbest motherf–kers that I know. Y’all were told three times. Go straight to your carts,” the ranger unloads on the diving duo. “Go straight to your f–king carts. The cops are on their way. Y’all are ignorant f–ks.” 

Based on the intel I’ve gathered on this one, it’s at Oak Hurst Golf Club in Bullard, Texas. 

Why the f-bombs and the heightened reaction? 

The original video poster, Texas Golf Junkees, explains that this is theft. 

“[They] were told politely three times to leave. They were informed someone has a contract to retrieve the balls already. So legally the course has to or can be in breach of contract as soon as people start diving for golf balls,” Junkees told an Instagram user who questioned his strong-arm tactics. 

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “anecdotal information” tells the government that golf ball pond divers make about $200 a day. Indeed.com reports the national average for a diver is $52,000 a year. 

In California, a diver told a CBS affiliate that he makes upwards of $100,000 retrieving balls. In 2022, the guy retrieved around a million golf balls and turned it into six-figures. 

Based on what Texas Golf Junkees is saying, if two young guns start going in for golf balls, the course’s diver is out golf balls and money, hence the reaction. 

Junkees claims that the diving duo was naked in the pond twice. “The head pro sent me to get them and handle it. Be glad they aren’t In jail and got an ass chewing instead,” Junkees replied to those yelling at him for yelling at the amateur divers.
