Jamie Hayter hasn’t worked a match in over a year due to suffering an injury, last wrestling in May of 2023.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Hayter was backstage at a set of AEW Dynamite TV tapings in recent months when the roster was required to show up for their annual physicals. While it was believed internally that there had been some movement toward a potential return, there are still no clear plans in place for Hayter. The injury she suffered was “very serious.”
Several AEW sources said that seeing Hayter backstage at the AEW Dynamite TV tapings was the most positive news they had heard about her in awhile, despite the fact that she and several other talents who were off TV were only there for their physicals. It’s worth noting that she has not been regularly backstage of late, which is usually an indication that a return isn’t coming anytime soon. Hayter is said to be keeping to herself and focusing on her recovery.
While there was some discussion about the possibility of Hayter returning this year, that remains to be seen. Additionally, there has been some talent who have had matches pitched to them involving Hayter at some point later this year.
In other AEW-related news, Chris Jericho was a recent guest on the “Big Show with Rusic & Rose” podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including whether or not he still speaks with his former colleagues in WWE and his belief that the wrestling business is bigger now than ever before. He said,
“It’s like being war buddies. I talk to some of the guys from time to time. Not that there are any issues. You see them on the street or run into them at the airport, it’s the greatest reunion ever. They’re doing their thing, we’re doing our thing. We’re all in the business, we’re all making money, and all building pro wrestling as a whole.”
He continued, “I think pro wrestling is bigger now than it’s ever been there might have been more of a buzz in the Attitude Era, but as far as dollars and cents and pure money and revenue, it’s never been bigger than it is right now.”
