The Alexander County Board of Education has approved the hire of Jenny Weems as Alexander Central High School Head Volleyball Coach.
A former assistant coach at Alexander Central, Weems played Volleyball at the collegiate level for two years at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Weems has previously coached at Hickory Ridge Middle School, Mount Pleasant High School, and Carolina Courts/PEAK Volleyball.
Weems commented “I am excited to have the opportunity to be the Head Volleyball Coach at Alexander Central. I appreciate being able to work under former Head Coach Savanna Benbow and staff last season. I am looking forward to pushing hard during the remainder of summer workouts to get ready for the 2024-25 season. Please make a point to come out to a game and support your ACHS Volleyball program.”
Weems resides in Taylorsville and has three adult children; she is currently employed full time by Confluence Medical Group as the Director of Support Services. In her spare time, Weems enjoys paddle boarding, kayaking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Alexander Central High School Athletic Director Nathan Robinson commented on the hire by saying “I am pleased to announce the hiring of Jenny Weems to guide our volleyball program. Jenny has a wealth of knowledge of the game and she will be a good leader for our young ladies. I feel that Coach Weems has was it takes to be successful and put our student-athletes in the best position to succeed.”
