Djed Spence and Joe Rodon (Rennes)

It was big weekend for Rennes and Djed Spence as they shocked PSG with a 2-0 win away at the Parc des Princes and the Spurs right wing-back got plenty of praise for his performance.

The 22-year-old played for 78 minutes and helped shut out PSG’s attacking stars Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. Spence completed 31 of his 34 passes, made three recoveries, won eight of his 11 duels against the PSG attack and only committed two fouls.

He also earned a place in L’Equipe’s Ligue 1 Team of the Week for his performance against the Parisian outfit.

Get French Football said of his performance: “The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was unstoppable down the right – an all-action performance that saw him win the majority of his defensive duels, as well as offering a constant outlet for his team’s counter-attacks. The test for Spence now will be keeping his spot with skipper Traore back fit again and expecting to regain his place.

Joe Rodon continued to be an unused substitute for Rennes for the fifth Ligue 1 game in a row as the side have only conceded once in those matches.

Tanguy Ndombele got on the scoresheet for Napoli in their 4-0 win at Torino on Sunday in another 25 minute stint from the bench.

The Frenchman tucked away a tidy finish through the goalkeeper’s legs for Napoli’s final goal of the game. The 26-year-old scored with his only shot on target, had a 100% pass success rate from his 11 passes and made two successful tackles in a bright cameo from the bench.

Ndombele is cruising with Napoli towards a Serie A title winner’s medal, with the side sitting 19 points above second-placed Inter and they also have been handed a favourable run on paper from the Champions League quarter-finals.

Destiny Udogie (Udinese)

Destiny Udogie grabbed an assist and an award this week for Udinese. The 20-year-old helped Udinese make sure of their 3-1 home victory against AC Milan by setting up the final goal of the game.

He found space in the box and although his shot was rolling wide, it was tapped home at the back post by Kingsley Ehizibue to secure the victory.

It marked the end of a good day as Udogie was also handed Udinese’s player of…
