Shane Mosley Reveals Only Way Gervonta Davis Beats a Prime Floyd Mayweather

When the fight began in 2010 at MGM, Shane Mosley almost had everyone believe he could knock out Floyd Mayweather. Having hit ‘TBE’ with a clean jab to the body, he followed it up with a right hand to the head. Later, in the second round, he shocked everyone by penetrating Mayweather’s defense which protected him like the walls of Troy.

Anyway, in the language of Steve Kim, when the second round ended, “so did Mosley’s chances” and Floyd Mayweather went on to win the fight via unanimous decision. Now, 14 years after he faced ‘TBE’, Mosley meditated on a potential bout between Mayweather and Gervonta Davis aka Abdul Wahid. In doing so, he revealed the only way ‘Tank’ could defeat Mayweather in the ring.

Floyd Mayweather never did well against southpaws

Lately, Gervonta Davis randomly claimed that he would knock out Floyd Mayweather! Later, when the boxer appeared on the CigarTalk podcast, he was asked to reflect on his statements. Could he actually beat the boxer who retired with a record of 50 professional wins? In a startling reply, Davis announced he would give Mayweather a “spanking”! However, while Shane Mosley feels otherwise, he believes being a southpaw adds to Davis’ advantage against Floyd.

“Floyd Mayweather, I think wins pretty easily at 135. He’s a little taller, he’s faster as a boxer. And I don’t think Gervonta will be able to get closer, he won’t be able to counter-punch Floyd because he’s too short,” said Shane Mosley initially.

However, Mosley added that Gervonta Davis had the same power he possessed in his prime. Besides, Mosley felt Gervonta Davis, a southpaw boxer, could put Floyd Mayweather in a fix as ‘TBE’ struggled against those who fought with their right leg forward. “Floyd didn’t like to play southpaws back then. That’s why DeMarcus Corley and Zab Judah were kind of able to touch him a little bit. So, that is a possibility,” Mosley explained excitedly. Before concluding Mosley answered which version of Mayweather would have performed better against Davis.
