Eddie Hearn names the upcoming fight that is a city’s biggest in nearly 50 years

A big battle goes down this weekend.

Eddie Hearn is excited to return big time boxing to Philadelphia as Jaron Ennis defends his world title against David Avanesyan this weekend, live on DAZN.

Ennis, the latest world champion from the fighting city, faces a tough test as he goes in with the former rival of Shane Mosley and Terence Crawford.

Philadelphia is home to some of boxing’s most legendary figures and it was the setting for multiple Rocky movies that saw Sylvester Stallone elevate Philadelphia as one of boxing’s premier regions.

Hearn is ecstatic to be putting on a show there and he’s expecting the city’s biggest boxing show in almost half a century.

“I can’t wait for Saturday night, the entire bottom tier is now sold out, it’s the biggest fight night in Philly since Marvin Hagler vs. Benny Briscoe some 45 years ago, said Hearn when speaking at the pre-fight press conference.

“As one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Philadelphia’s own Boots Ennis will light up this place with a huge crowd, between 13 and 14,000, maybe even more expected.”
