THE absence of Limerick from the fixture for the first time since 2019 has allowed for Johnny Murphy to take charge of his first All-Ireland SHC final.
Sunday week’s meeting of Cork and Clare will be refereed by the Treaty native, who was the man in the middle for the All-Ireland minor final in 2018 and the Under-20 decider in 2021.
Murphy, who first oversaw a Liam MacCarthy Cup game in 2018, has already been appointed to four games in this season’s Championship.
His most recent posting was Clare’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Wexford, which saw Model forward Rory O’Connor given his marching orders in the first half.
Ballylanders man Murphy also refereed the 2021 Leinster final and the 2023 All-Ireland club final.
His linesmen on Sunday week will be Galway’s Liam Gordon and Michael Kennedy of Tipperary, with Gordon also standby ref.
