Vandals Junior Macy Jones Making Her Mark in USA Youth Bowling

Vandalia junior bowler Macy Jones is making her mark on the national bowling circuit as she prepares to compete at the Junior Gold Nationals in Detroit, Michigan.

The top youth bowlers from around the country are making their way to Detroit, which starts Friday, July 12, and will conclude July 20. This will be the fourth time the Detroit area will host the Junior Gold Championships (2008, 2013 and 2019).

Over 3,500 bowlers in three age-based divisions for boys and girls – U12, U15 and U18 – will be competing across eight bowling centers in the Detroit area during the weeklong tournament for a part of the event’s $500,000 scholarship fund.

Junior Team USA and Junior Team USA’s Developmental Team for 2025 will also have spots up for grabs in Detroit through qualifying and the stepladder finals.  Jones finished 2nd a year ago and earned a spot on Team USA Development while also competing in the televised national finals.

Jones has also been able to experience things like throwing out the first pitch on July 9th at the Chicago White Sox Game.

As a freshman, Jones placed 3rd at the IHSA State Girls Bowling Tournament at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.  Jones followed that up with another state qualification this past year as a sophomore.

Good luck to Macy as well as the other area bowlers competing in Detroit for Jr Gold which includes Rhett Runge (CORLHS), Keaton Gullion (Salem), Rhett Detering (Salem), Ryan Detering (Salem), Silas Moats (Salem), Jaxon Cushman (CORLHS), Elena VanHoutin (Salem).
