Trump expected to visit his N.J. golf club this weekend, beginning his summer

President Donald Trump is expected to return to his Bedminster golf club this weekend, his first trip to New Jersey this year.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced it would issue a temporary flight restriction from Friday to Sunday for the airspace around Morristown Airport, where Air Force One usually lands, and Bedminster. Such FAA notices are issued in advance of the president’s trips to the Garden State.

Trump already is scheduled to visit Maine earlier on Friday.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Since becoming president, Trump has spent many warmer weekends at Bedminster, including his traditional August getaway, while flying to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, during the warmer months.

The president also is scheduled to visit Bedminster the following weekend to raise money for his re-election campaign, the Republican National Committee, and 22 state parties. The event will be limited to around 25 people and cost $250,000 per person.

Because of the coronavirus, the event will be held outdoors, the venue will be cleaned and sanitized, and every guest will be tested, fill out a health questionnaire, and have to pass a temperature screening.

An indication that Trump again would spend some weekends at Bedminster this year came in May when the U.S. Secret Service signed a contract worth as much as $179,370 to rent golf carts there.

During his presidency, Trump has spent 90 days at Bedminster, behind only the 109 days at Mar-a-Lago, according to NBC News.
