Sanderson Farms Championship, statements

The concomitance of the tournament with the prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour inevitably ended up undermining the average quality of the field of this tournament, in which however there will be no shortage of notable players.

Above all, the most anticipated will be the American Sam Burns, number 12 in the world order of merit and reigning champion. The 26-year-old comes from an understated Presidents Cup to say the least, in which his contribution was limited to two tied matches and three in which he was defeated, but the top 10 of the ranking in sight and the excellent memories on this path still make him.

the big favorite. Among the most accredited opponents there will certainly be compatriot Sahith Theegala, always at ease in his previous appearances in this and appeared very fit in the opening tournament of the season. Also pay attention to Harris English, J.T.

Poston, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Emiliano Grillo. The Country Club of Jackson course is a PAR 72 of 7,461 yards. Packed with doglegs in both directions, the course has historically favored big tee-offs, able to outrun bunkers and sometimes even doglegs themselves with the first shot.

The greens are not very difficult to read and many birdies are possible. The course record is the 266 (-22) set by Sam Burns last year. Samuel Holland Burns (born July 23, 1996) is an American professional golfer. He played college golf at Louisiana State University and is currently participating in men’s professional golf “PGA Tour”

Burns was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Todd Burns and Beth Burns. He began his golf career at Calvary Baptist Academy and won three individual state championships. He was named the AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year by the National Junior Golf Association in 2014.

Burns attended Louisiana State University and played college golf. During his sophomore year, he competed in 15 tournaments and won four. He was selected as a member of the All-American All-American Team and was named “Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year” at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship Division 1 sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
