Women’s Volleyball Starts Road Trip With Sweep At Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif.—After a four week homestand, the University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball team (6-5, 3-0 Big West) returned to the mainland and recorded a sweep over Cal State Fullerton (8-4, -2 BWC), 25-20, 25-15, 25-13. Junior middle blocker Amber Igiede posted match-highs of 13 kills and four blocks on Friday night at Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif..
 
For the 10th time in 11 matches, Igiede posted double-digit kills. Igiede hit .522 (14-2-23) for the match and led two other Rainbow Wahine with 10+ kills. She had eight of her 14 kills in the first set alone.
 
Junior outside hitter Riley Wagoner finished a dig shy of her third-straight double-double with 10 kills and nine digs with a pair of blocks. Wagoner hit for a career-high .455 and had no errors for the first time since her freshman year as a reserve. It marked Wagoner’s seventh double-digit kill match of the season.
 
Freshman pin-hitter Caylen Alexander recorded her second-straight and sixth overall 10+ kill match adding 10 kills while hitting .350 (10-3-20). In the first set, Alexander recorded her 100th kill after coming into the match with 97.
 
Sophomores Kate Lang and Tayli Ikenaga continued their stellar, steady play. Lang was one dig short of a double-double herself with 30 assists and nine digs as she directed the offense to a .318 hitting percentage (45-10-110).  Ikenaga notched her ninth overall and fifth-straight double-digit dig match of the year with a match-high 12. She also added two assists and a service ace and for the third consecutive match she did not have any serve receive errors.
 
For the third straight match, Hawai’i’s defense held their opponent to under a .135 hitting percentage (.133) and did not allow an opposing player to post more than nine kills. The Titans’ Julia Crawford came into the game averaging 3.00 kills per set, but the ‘Bows held her to just…
