The Warriors’ last dance? Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins deals signal end of era


The end was always coming. But the end of the Warriors’ historic trio as the franchise foundation is in view, clearer than ever before.

The greatest case for keeping the trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green together is their ability to bring home a title. Championship eras don’t come around often and don’t last forever. When you’re in one, the sensible thing is usually to stick with it until it proves itself expired. ESPN’s “The Last Dance” series on the 1990s Bulls made a nation look back on that dynasty and scoff at the reasons it ended.

But with the Warriors’ contract-extension party on Saturday — signing Jordan Poole to a four-year extension worth as much as $140 million and Andrew Wiggins to a four-year extension worth $109 million — the franchise made clear, again, its priority. The future.

It’s been trending this way for a while. It’s now officially their position.
