“I would beat the s**t out of Kyrie”

Kyrie Irving, through no fault of his own this time, is once again making the headlines. The former NBA champion is working his way through a mandatory checklist provided by the Brooklyn Nets in hopes of returning to the floor.

In the meantime, he very well may have just found himself an opponent for a potential celebrity boxing match if he’s interested.

Comedian Andrew Schulz recently spoke on an episode of his podcast about Irving in the midst of the NBA star’s ongoing suspension. While playing host to former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, Schulz found himself in an interesting spot.

Adesanya asked him if he would ever be interested in doing a celebrity boxing event, something that he initially scoffed at.

When The Last Stylebender named Irving as a potential opponent for the comedian, things suddenly became interesting. The tone shifted as Schulz became confident that he could take the Brooklyn Nets star in a fight.

“Oh, I would beat the shit out of Kyrie. That’s easy. KD, that’d be more difficult obviously because he’s seven feet tall.”

The comments came on a recent episode of Schulz’ Flagrant podcast, which can be seen in the video below. The conversation about Schulz potentially fighting Irving begins around the 57-minute mark.

Kyrie Irving’s ongoing suspension

After tactically tip-toeing around an apology following the Nets organization putting a gag order on Irving for sharing links to an anti-Semitic movie, the team issued an indefinite suspension. At the time, Irving was handed a minimum five-game suspension while he took steps to remedy the situation.

The terms of his reinstatement included meeting with NBA commissioner Adam Silver, as well as Nets owner Joe Tsai. Irving has since completed both of those steps, and reportedly opened the door to rejoining the team. Despite that, Irving has now been sidelined for more than the minimum five games that he was initially mentioned.

There was hope that Irving would return for the Nets game with the Lakers this past weekend, however he was ruled out beforehand. So far no word yet whether or not Irving will return to the floor for the Nets game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday in California.
