Jake Paul is not usually a man keen to play down his achievements, but even he was unsure at a recent boxing ceremony.

Last week, the World Boxing Association (WBA) held their 100th convention and invited the YouTuber-turned-boxer along as an unlikely guest.

The social media star was called to the stage and given an extremely kind introduction, as Gilberto Mendoza, the WBA president, thanked Paul for coming and praised his hard work.

Then, former undisputed middleweight world champion, Bernard Hopkins, stepped forward to present Paul with a WBA title.

At first, Paul was reluctant to accept. “I’m honoured for real, this means a lot,” he said.

“I feel like I haven’t earned this yet though. I feel like I have to actually fight for this. I don’t know. I don’t know.

“Thank you. I feel like you guys should hold this until I’m actually fighting for a WBA Championship. I don’t know.”

Hopkins then jokingly offered to ‘accommodate’ Paul in fighting for the title, before he eventually accepted and said that he would hang it up and use it as motivation because it is not actually his yet.

This award comes after Paul is yet to actually fight a professional boxer in his fledgling career.

Since joining the sport’s professional ranks, he has fought a YouTuber, a basketball player and three retired UFC fighters.

With that being said, you can only beat what’s in front of you and Paul has won all of his first six fights, including four knockout victories.

In terms of his next opponent, there have been a number of names mentioned, but at the moment it seems Andrew Tate, Nate Diaz and Tommy Fury are the front runners.
