Tine Tiamzon retires from volleyball

Many were surprised when F2 Logistics bid farewell to Tine Tiamzon on Thursday.

But the decision was beyond the team’s control.

Tiamzon announced on Thursday evening that she was decided to hang up her sneakers and retire from the sport of volleyball at just the young age of 25 years old.

“This may not have been the ending that I wanted, but it was the ending that I needed.

“I thank each person who has been part of my seven-year journey in La Salle and F2, you all have made an impact on who I am today,” the Filipino-Canadian spiker said.

Initially a basketball player, Tiamzon fell in love with volleyball when she was at Moscrop Secondary School.

She ended up in La Salle during the off-season of UAAP Season 78.

In her freshman yer, she was a double gold medalist, winning the championship for the Lady Spikers in both beach and indoor volleyball.

She wound up with four UAAP golds — three in indoor volleyball.

Prior to Season 84, Tiamzon decided to turn pro and join F2 Logistics.

And for all her accomplishments, she expressed her gratitude to La Salle, F2 Logistics, and head coach Ramil de Jesus.UAAP-81-Volleyball-DLSU-vs.-UST-Tiamzon-6957 Tine Tiamzon retires from volleyball News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“To my beloved F2 and La Salle family, thank you for understanding that I have to continue my life’s journey outside of volleyball. I will always be there to support you guys from the sidelines as I watch you dominate once more,” she continued.

“Coach Ramil, you’ve brought out the best and the worst in me, and for that, I will always be grateful for the patience, dedication, and tough love that you have given me. You have pushed me past my limits and onto great heights I never even imagined achieving.”

Tiamzon suffered an injury back in November.

As she moves on to life after volleyball, Tiamzon shared that it was all worth it thanks to those who supported her.

“To the fans and supporters of the La Salle and F2 team, thank you for your undying love for our team. You guys have made each game exciting to play.”
