Holger Rune thinks he has unlocked just over half of his potential

Holger Rune, 19, thinks he has unlocked just around 55 to 60% of his potential. Rune, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No 8 in the world, is one of the most promising and talented players in the world. In late 2022, Rune became a Masters champion and a top-10 player in style.
In the Paris Masters final, Rune upset Novak Djokovic to win the biggest title of his career. Rune, who has three ATP titles in his collection, also entered the top-10 for the first time in his career following his Paris win.
Rune: I have reached 55 to 60% of my potential
“I think [I have reached] maybe 55 or 60 per cent [of my potential]. I’m 19, so I feel like I have a lot to learn still. When I’m out there playing, I feel still like I can be a lot better, which is in a way nice but sometimes frustrating.
I just have to look at it as a positive thing. I’m No. 8 in the world now, and I’ve reached I think maybe 55 or 60 per cent of my potential, so it’s a positive thing,” Rune said, per the ATP website. After a strong end to 2022, Rune was hoping to make a strong start to 2023 and become a Grand Slam champion at the Australian Open.
Unfortunately for Rune, it didn’t happen as he was beaten by Andrey Rublev in a five-set thriller in the Australian Open round-of-16. Overall, it hasn’t really been the greatest start of the season for Rune, who is 12-6 this season.
At the Indian Wells Masters, Rune exited the tournament in the third round after losing to Stan Wawrinka. Now, Rune is hoping to bounce back and do better at the Miami Masters. Rune had a first-round bye in Miami as he plays Marton Fucsovics in his Miami opener.
Last year, Rune didn’t make the Miami main draw cut so he featured in the qualifying event. Unfortunately for Rune, he was beaten in his Miami qualifying opener so he didn’t make his main draw debut last year.
