Sebastian Vettel takes incredible but costly scooter ride at Albert Park :

Sebastian Vettel wowed the Australian Grand Prix crowd last year after taking a scooter ride back to the pits, but it also made his wallet a bit lighter come the end of the weekend.

Vettel was forced to pull over with an issue in his Aston Martin in FP1 and, without a way back to the pits during the session, once it had finished he decided to borrow a moped used by the marshals at the side of the track and drove himself back to his garage.

He had his helmet half-on as he gave the crowd a wave on his way around Albert Park, albeit on a different mode of transport to which he had become accustomed in Melbourne, even taking his hands off the handlebars on his travels.

While most people could have a smile and see the funny side, the FIA took a dimmer view of Vettel’s actions and hit him with a €5000 fine for his actions, for the offence of “entering the track without permission.”

The four-time World Champion would later brand the decision a “joke”, but that would not be the only time he would be hit financially that weekend either – with a further €600 fine coming his way for speeding in the pit lane.

With the 2023 edition of the Australian Grand Prix fast approaching, Formula 1 shared the video of Vettel’s moped travels from what would end up being his final racing weekend at Albert Park on social media, which you are now able to watch below.
