Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi not in Chelsea running to replace Graham Potter

Roberto De Zerbi is not in the running to be the next manager of Chelsea.

The Italian has enjoyed a fine season at Brighton and Hove Albion, guiding them to sixth place in the Premier League.

Chelsea are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Graham Potter on Sunday night following a poor run of results and performances.

However, De Zerbi is not one of those being considered.

The Chelsea hierarchy hold Tony Bloom and Paul Barber at Brighton in the highest esteem but De Zerbi does not fit the profile they are looking for.

The process of appointing a long-term replacement for Potter is underway.

The search is being led by the club’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, before a decision is ultimately made by co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Chelsea return to action against Liverpool on Tuesday night with Bruno Saltor taking interim charge.
