Liverpool are preparing to make an offer to Real Madrid for their top summer target, while Newcastle have been told to pay £50m for a Man Utd midfielder…

KLOPP’S NUMBER ONE TARGET TO LEAD REDS REBUILD
Liverpool have made Aurelien Tchouameni their top summer target as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his squad after a terrible season, according to reports.

It is now extremely unlikely that Liverpool qualify for the Champions League via fourth spot with Klopp’s side currently 13 points off the pace with ten games to go.

And Klopp is reportedly looking to overhaul parts of his squad in an attempt to challenge for the Premier League title again next year with Tchouameni apparently key to those plans.

Spanish publication Nacional claims that Liverpool have made Tchouameni their ‘number one signing’ for the summer transfer market with doubts whether they can lure Jude Bellingham to Anfield without Champions League football.

Klopp is preparing for a ‘deep rebuild’ of his squad and the German plans to ‘get rid of players who no longer contribute anything’ and replace them with better ones.

He will ‘prioritise’ the centre of midfield as a an area to strengthen and Tchouameni has emerged as a key target after missing out on him to Real Madrid last summer.

Tchouameni has been down the pecking order at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti only starting the France international 17 times in La Liga this season.

Compatriot Eduardo Camavinga is currently ahead of him at Real Madrid and Los Blancos ‘begin to consider the possibility’ of Tchouameni leaving the club.

Klopp ‘has not forgotten about the French international’ and is sure he would be a ‘magnificent operation’ if they could land him with Liverpool ‘willing to present an offer’ of €80m (£71m).

The arrivals of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen has pushed the Scot further down the pecking order at Old Trafford with McTominay making just ten Premier League starts this term.

Although the 26-year-old produced a man-of-the-match performance in a 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday, while he also scored four goals in two matches for Scotland over the recent international break.

And the Daily Star claim that admirers Newcastle ‘will have to cough up £50million to get their hands on’ McTominay ‘despite the fact he remains more a squad player than regular starter’ under Ten Hag.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe sees McTominay as ‘an ideal addition’ after the Scotland international recently ‘held talks over his long-term Old Trafford future’ with Ten Hag.
