  • Bruno Fernandes suffered an injury during Man United’s victory over Brighton
  • He played on despite the knock before he was taken off during extra-time
  • Fernandes has now been pictured by his wife with a boot and crutches

Bruno Fernandes looks to be a serious doubt for Manchester United‘s clash with Tottenham following a picture released by his wife which shows him wearing a protective boot.

The Portuguese international appeared to suffer a knock in the first-half of United’s penalty shootout victory over Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Fernandes remained on the pitch until the 101st minute, when he was replaced by Wout Weghorst.

Ana Pinho, Fernandes’ wife, has since posted a photo on her Instagram story on Monday night which will be of real concern for United fans as they look to secure a top-four finish.

The picture on her story shows Fernandes sitting on a sofa with his right leg elevated on a stack of three cushions. His ankle is strapped up while there is a protective boot and a pair of crutches on the floor next to him.

Fernandes was seen limping out of Wembley on Sunday, raising concerns over the Portuguese midfielder.

The picture from his wife would suggest that Fernandes is unlikely to play a part against Spurs on Thursday evening.

United boss Erik ten Hag will be hoping the midfielder doesn’t miss much time, with the Red Devils six points ahead of Spurs in the fight for the Champions League qualification spots.

The Red Devils already have injury problems with Lisandro Martinez out for the remainder of the season, with centre-back partner Raphael Varane also currently sidelined.

Fernandes had rediscovered his form this season following the appointment of Ten Hag.

So far this season, he has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions.
