Man Utd takeover LIVE: Ratcliffe tables controversial Glazers bid, Sheikh Jassim

Manchester United will not get involved in a lengthy bidding war with Tottenham for Harry Kane, as speculation about his future continues to grow.

United need to sign a new striker this summer after allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club in November. Wout Weghorst was signed on loan from Burnley in January, but the Netherlands international is not the long-term answer to United’s striker dilemma.

Kane, 29, would be a superb signing for the Red Devils and is about to enter the final year of his Tottenham contract. Yet Spurs chair Daniel Levy is known for driving a hard bargain for his club’s most valuable assets… and he won’t let Kane go on the cheap.

As reported by the Daily Star, that could force United to give up the chase. Erik ten Hag’s side do not want to be drawn into a lengthy transfer saga, with other options available. Victor Osimhen, who has 26 goals for Napoli this season, is an attractive alternative.
