Manchester United are now fully focused on the upcoming summer transfer window with the season over at long last.

Erik ten Hag had a successful first campaign at the helm of United. His management yielded a third placed finish in the Premier League which has in turn meant a return to the Champions League for next season, as well as securing silverware in the form of the Carabao Cup.

But with the 2022/23 campaign now done and dusted, all energy behind the scenes at Old Trafford from a football perspective can go onto acquiring reinforcements for next season. There are several bits of business which are anticipated to be done.

Mason Mount has agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford this summer. A transfer fee still needs to be agreed with his current club Chelsea, though, with the midfielder only having a year left to go on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

A centre forward is also on United’s shopping list this summer and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are thought to be high on that striker shortlist.

But off the pitch, there is a big issue to be resolved too in the form of the club’s ownership. It is likely between Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe for the purchase if the Glazers decide they do want to sell up their majority stake in the club more than six months after announcing the Old Trafford club is up for sale.

TODAY’S BIG QUESTION: What should be the priority signing for United to get done this summer above all others? Have your say here

Brighton players ‘fear’ Caicedo exit

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pervis Estupinan admits his teammates ‘fear’ Moises Caicedo will leave this summer amid Manchester United’s reported interest.

United are rumoured to have had both Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister to their list of summer midfield options – the latter has since joined Liverpool for around £35million – with Erik ten Hag keen on adding quality and depth in that area of the pitch.

After an incredible season on the south coast, Caicedo’s future looks increasingly likely to continue elsewhere. And Seagulls teammate Estupinan has suggested his exit could be on the cards.

“Having a player of Moi’s characteristics, we all fear that he will leave. If he stays, I will be very happy to keep playing alongside him and enjoying his football.

“If he goes, I will wish him all the best because he is a good lad, a good professional and he is a machine. If he leaves, we will be opponents and all I’ll ask is he doesn’t give me a whack because he is very strong!”
