Sofyan Amrabat is a man in demand heading into the summer transfer window after his exploits with Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Given that his contract with Fiorentina stands to expire next year, the 26-year-old is an attractive proposition for several clubs, including Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are looking for a pivot midfielder but are fast running out of targets as the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich are deemed out of reach while Ruben Neves is not preferred as a target by Xavi and his staff.

As such, Amrabat is the name that appears to be generating the most consensus within the club to replace Sergio Busquets as the pivot.

And now, Moroccan journalist Izem Anass is reporting that the Fiorentina midfielder, whose market value stands at €30 million, will either sign for Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The Rojiblancos have held an interest in Amrabat since the January transfer window, much like Barcelona. They, too, are operating on tight finances and are looking for cost-effective opportunities in the market, making the Moroccan international a viable target.

However, previous reports have suggested that Amrabat is crazy about signing for Barcelona, which should give the La Liga champions an edge in the race for his signing.

It all depends on the Catalan giants’ Financial Fair Play situation and how quickly they are able to get rid of unwanted players from the club so as to generate enough margin to sign and register Amrabat.

The pivot position is the utmost priority for Xavi & co. heading into the summer and the earlier they address the situation the better as whoever arrives would need time to adapt and adjust to their new surroundings and the ways of Barcelona.
