Cleveland Cavaliers to kick off 2023 Summer League slate on July 7

The Cleveland Cavaliers 2023 Summer League schedule begins on July 7 with a game against the Brooklyn Nets.



Cleveland’s summer league roster has not yet been announced, but it figures to include second-round pick Emoni Bates, two-way signee Craig Porter Jr. and Exhibit 10 signee Pete Nance. It’s also possible that the roster will feature Isaiah Mobley, Luke Travers and Sam Merrill.

Bates will be the player to watch. At point, Bates was the highest ranked prospect in his class. But since he went to Memphis for his freshman season and then transferred to Eastern Michigan for his sophomore season, his stock dropped drastically. The full roster will be announced at a point before summer league. It also isn’t known who will coach the game. Mike Gerrity, the head coach of the Cleveland Charge and a former assistant on J.B. Bickerstaff’s staff, coached the team last year.

After the game against the Nets, the Cavs play the Toronto Raptors on July 9; the Memphis Grizzlies and July 10; and the Chicago Bulls on July 13. What games come after that depend on the Cavs’ record in the first four games.
