Manchester United takeover latest: Further reports point to the Qatari offer being successful.

US trading website Benzinga has reported Sheikh Jassim is leading the race for the takeover of Manchester United.

The outlet has released an update ahead of Manchester United’s latest set of financial results being released later this morning.

The takeover situation has dragged on for months at Old Trafford with no imminent sign of a conclusion.

Sheikh Jassim leads Manchester United takeover battle

The two lead bidders for Manchester United are Qatari investor Sheikh Jassim and Brit billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Citing a mergers and acquisitions source, Benzinga reports: “The likely winner of the Manchester auction is Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.”

Their source adds: “I’m genuinely not sure what the hold up is here.”

It also speculates that the two parties will know whether they have been successful or not, ahead of the latest quarterly earnings being revealed.

Jassim was pictured in Qatar last week as the takeover battle drags on.

A recent report from Reuters claimed, “The Qatari offer is currently viewed by the Glazers more favorably.”

He has submitted five separate bids for Manchester United, presented via his Nine Two Foundation.

Manchester United fans are set to hold a protest outside the megastore later today, frustrated at the lack of clarity from the Glazers and sellers The Raine Group. It is set to coincide with the release of the club’s new home kit for next season.
