White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito splits from wife files during All-Star Week
Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito announced on Instagram he and his wife are getting splitting up during Tuesday’s Home Run Derby.
Giolito, 28, appeared to turn his comments off under the post, as he claimed the two came to a “mutual agreement.”
“Ariana and I have made the difficult, but mutual, decision to amicably end our marriage…,” the 2019 All-Star said in the post.
“After thoughtful consideration and discussions, we have chosen to follow separate paths while maintaining the bond we have nurtured over the years…,” he added.
Ariana Dubelko filed for divorce after she claims their rocky 4-year marriage fell apart due to “irreconcilable differences,” TMZ reported.
Dubelko is asking Giolito to pay spousal support and for their attorney’s fees and for her share in “all property acquired by the parties during marriage through the date of separation. All community earnings and accumulation during marriage through the date of separation,” according to TMZ.
The couple had been together since their teen years and tied the knot in December 2018.
They did not have any children together.
Giolito, a right-handed pitcher, has a 3.45 ERA to go along with 117 strikeouts and a .223 opponents’ batting average this season.
He will be a free agent after this season, but he may be on the move at this year’s trade deadline with apparent interest from the contending Rangers and Reds if the 38-54 White Sox sell at the deadline.
