Andy Ruiz Jr names the three men he’d be willing to face next

After failing to secure a WBC final eliminator match, Andy Ruiz Jr. is now looking at three alternative opponents to Deontay Wilder. The World Boxing Council had initially proposed a showdown between Ruiz and Wilder to determine the challenger for Tyson Fury‘s title, and this proposal had the approval of Al Haymon, who represented both fighters at the time.

Initially, it was expected that this fight would be relatively easy to arrange and would headline a Premier Boxing Champions Pay-Per-View event on Showtime. However, the fight never materialized, and since then, Ruiz has ended his association with Haymon and PBC.

In the wake of stalled negotiations, Ruiz is now focused on securing a bout with one of three other potential opponents. He has also raised questions about his previous rival Anthony Joshua‘s victory in their rematch in December 2019, despite Ruiz having knocked out Joshua in their first encounter six months prior.

“I would like to face Usyk, I would like to face Tyson Fury, I would like to face Anthony Joshua. We could do the trilogy [with AJ],” Ruiz told Make a Move.

When asked about losing his titles to Joshua in that manner, Ruiz expressed his emotional pain.

“In the rematch with Anthony Joshua, I didn’t do anything right,” he noted.

“I didn’t even train for the fight. How did I last the twelve rounds? That was for him to knock me out easy.

“This time, when I do get the crown and become heavyweight champion of the world again, I’m going to do everything right and stay champion.”
