Andy Murray currently occupies the 39th position in the world ranking, but his intentions are to go even higher. The Scot is slowly moving up positions in the ATP rankings, after the watershed that divided his career in two, after the injury and subsequent hip surgery.

In a recent interview with TennisMajors, the 3-time Slam champion expressed his idea of continuing to express his tennis at high levels, setting himself the goal of participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Retirement is therefore not at all in the plans of the British legend, who has very clear plans for 2024.

He explained: “I would like to play another edition of the Olympic Games, because in my career I have had fantastic experiences in this event. It’s been special every time I’ve taken part in them and thinking of being able to compete in them for the fifth time in my career, and perhaps the last, makes me very excited.” The former number recalled with regret his last participation in the Olympic tournament, the one in Tokyo in 2021.

Murray told: “It was very disappointing for me at Tokyo 2021 because just before the start of the tournament I got injured and decided to prioritize doubles. We were very close to winning a medal, I remember we were leading by one set and a break in the quarterfinals, but we didn’t take advantage of it.” Murray has won two consecutive gold medals in Olympic competition.

The first in 2012 in the home edition, when Murray won in London against the Swiss master Roger Federer with a score of 6-2 6-1 6-4. Four years later, at the 2016 Rio games, the British tennis player achieved an encore, winning gold for his national team by beating the Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro in the final with a score of 7-5 4-6 6-2 7-5.

Winning again will be difficult, if not impossible, but Murray wants to give himself another chance in a competition that has given him more than one joy in his career.
