Volleyball roundup: LQPV Eagles right the ship for a big ‘W’ – West Central

GRANITE FALLS — After falling victim to a comeback in Set 1, Lac qui Parle Valley steadied itself the rest of the way Tuesday.

On the road for a Camden Conference volleyball match against Yellow Medicine East, the Eagles rebounded from a first-set loss to beat the Sting in four sets — 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-18 — at Espeland Gymnasium at YME High School.

The Eagles boosted their efforts with a strong serving night. Brandi Meyer had a match-high eight ace serves. As a team, LQPV finished with 15 aces.

Meyer, a 5-foot-9 junior outside hitter, also had 12 kills, three blocks and 10 digs.

Kaitlyn Kittelson finished with 21 set assists for LQPV. Jaydah Kessler added 14 digs, six kills and a pair of ace serves.

The Eagles cruised early in the first set, building a 10-3 lead. YME clawed back and tied the set at 19-all. Tied at 23, back-to-back Eagle errors gave the Sting the opening set.

Riley Streich dished out 22 set assists and had two ace serves, two blocks and 24 digs for YME. Her top hitters were Alana Almich (seven kills) and Abbey Bones (six kills). Ella Cherveny controlled the back row…
