Lewis Hamilton issues strong complaint ahead of F1 Brazilian Grand Prix as race

Lewis Hamilton has once again complained about his Mercedes car as Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix creeps closer.

The Brit entered the GP this weekend with plenty of optimism, having finished second in Mexico last weekend.

But Hamilton has struggled during his first two days in Brazil so far.

He suffered in qualifying on Friday, while also struggling in Saturday’s sprint race in the country.

Hamilton managed to get to as high as fourth at the start of the race, only to end up dropping to seventh by the end.

And the Stevenage-born racer has now expressed a belief he has little chance of reigning supreme this weekend as a result of the car he’s driving in.

Hamilton can’t wait to see the back of the W14, saying after the Sprint: “It was horrible. It was not enjoyable whatsoever.

“I was just fighting the car from very early on.

“The last couple of races we’ve been excited that we’re progressing, and it’s been really positive to see.

“And you come to another track and then you have the worst deg that you’ve had for ages.

“So it’s like you just don’t know what to expect with this one.

“But only a couple more races with this car and it’s gone, and I’ll be happy.

“This year, you’re just counting down the days, trying to enjoy every day as you can.”

Hamilton continued: “We won’t be winning, that’s for sure.

“It’s frustrating that the car is the way it is… we have one of the draggiest cars.

“Our floor is not as strong as perhaps the Red Bull for example, so we have to have a really big wing, and then we’re just slow on the straight. We can’t use anything smaller.

“It’s one of those circuits that’s challenging for tyres, but that’s the worst deg I think I’ve ever had here.

“I can’t remember the last time I had that bad a deg here.”

While Hamilton has ruled out winning in Brazil, he does still have a shot at finishing second in the overall standings.

The Brit currently trails Sergio Perez by 24 points with three races to go.

And Mercedes are currently second in the team standings, with only Red Bull superior, despite their issues this season.

Addressing the Silver Arrows’ poor Sprint performance, meanwhile, Toto Wolff admitted it had been a ‘bruising day’ for his side.

“I think we pushed very hard at the beginning,” he said.

“The car was not balanced right and then you put in some sliding and it just killed the tyres.

“It’s what happened to George [Russell] in Mexico.

“I think we a little bit too weak of a rear end and then it’s balancing them on the knife’s edge, trying to hold onto the pace.

“It’s maybe something we need to learn for tomorrow, but a bruising day.

“I don’t think that there is a major screw you can turn and everything is fixed.

“Everything…
